Newfoundland's pre-eminent sculptor Morgan MacDonald is known for his large monumental bronze works and sculptural interpretations of history and culture. He is an award winning artist who is the recipient of the Memorial University 2016 Horizon Awards for outstanding achievement under the age of 35. Working with his artistic team in the tradition of the lost wax method he creates from a foundry and studio in the picturesque community of Logy Bay, Newfoundland. His works are highly realistic and technical in nature with an emphasis on our deepest expressive human qualities. As a student enrolled in the Fine Arts Program at Sir Wilfred Grenfell College he was first introduced to the ancient practice of lost wax casting. After leaving fine art school he began a three year sculpture apprenticeship in a fine art casting foundry under the tutelage of a Bulgarian sculptor where he was taught in the European tradition of sculpture.  During this time Morgan enrolled in Memorial University's School of Business where he completed his Business Degree and began developing the idea of his first major work titled "The Rower". This work over time has become his signature piece and a local icon for the City of St. John's.

His works can be found in collections as far away as Europe, Asia, throughout North America and has been unveiled by notable dignitaries including HRH the Prince of Wales( Charles), HRH The Princess Royal (Anne), Prime Minister Stephen Harper and other heads of state. Other prominent works of his include The Memorial to the three fallen RCMP officers in Moncton, the Sealers Memorial in Elliston, "A Time" on George Street, Corner Brook's Remembrance Square and The Conception Bay South Monument of Honour.
